He spent the next two years struggling to get out of remedial courses. With hardwork and persistence, he eventually graduated and was awarded a full academic scholarship. Stewart's novel, Jammin' on the Avenue, set in New Orleans, is about a young guitar player's passion for his art. The sequel, Blues Across the Bay, takes the young musician to music camp in the colorful city of San Francisco.
